Free OpenView HD launched 16 channels for SA


Managing director of Platco Digital, Maxwell Nonge, (18-Sep-2013) announced the 16 launch channels on its free satellite TV platform, OpenView HD. Vivid, is being rebranded as Freevision as the company gears up to take on OpenView HD.
Vivid is the platform the state-owned broadcasting signal distributor uses to offer free-to-air programming to outlying areas where there are no terrestrial television signals.

They are as follows:

  • Entertainment: SABC1, 2 and 3, e.tv, eKasi+, eAfrica+, eMovies+
  • Culture and lifestyle: Zest TV, ASTV, Deen TV
  • Children and education: eToons+, Mindset TV, Da Vinci Learning, English Club
  •  Religion: Spirit World Channel, Inspiration TV.

What you need to know about OpenView HD

Only one was confirmed at the event: E-tv.
They promise adding more channels in future
The recommended retail price for the dish, decoder, and installation is R1,599.
Subscribers will never have to pay ever again when their OpenView HD system is installed.
OpenView HD will launch on 15 October
