FARMERS in Umzimkhulu, KZN say they don’t ask cops to find their stolen cattle – they go to a preacher.
And he uses holy water or isiwasho to get their cattle back.
The SunTeam found many people waiting at preacher Bongani Gumede’s homestead in Riverside with water containers on Monday.
They said they had seen him do miracles with isiwasho.
Maphimba Mtolo (42) said he turned to Gumede for help after he couldn’t find four cows that went missing in 2013.
Maphimba said: “He asked me to bring my old cows’ dung from the kraal. He mixed it with isiwasho and told me to spray it around the kraal every morning and afternoon.
“After I did that for a couple of weeks my sons spotted my cows at a place where we had searched a few times before. We were convinced it was the preacher’s work.”
The preacher also put isiwasho in Maphimba’s kraal to make sure thieves don’t steal his cattle again.
A tavern owner said he and many other business people use Bongani’s isiwasho to protect their businesses. Induna Mthatha Dlamini said: “People in my village are talking good about this young man.”
The preacher challenged the People’s Paper to bring him readers with problems.
He said people will soon see his miracles on TV.
The United Holy Church preacher said he began his practice in 2011 after six months of training as a sangoma. He said he didn’t become a full-blown sangoma after his ancestors told him to use isiwasho.
