THE constant beef between rappers AKA and Cassper Nyovest could be a laughing matter to many people, but not in the eyes of the EFF’s Commander-in-Chief!
Last weekend Julius “Juju” Malema took to the stage and made it clear the beef between the two rappers is nothing but a waste of time.
He advised the young men that their fight is useless and they should instead channel their energy into fighting for something constructive – like land.
Sunday Sun has learnt that Juju called “AKA”, real name Kiernan Forbes, and “Cassper”, real name Refiloe Phoolo, to meet with him just after their electrifying performance at the University of Limpopo’s Turfloop campus.
It’s said he sat them down like two naughty little boys who needed reprimanding.
“Juju saw how the crowd appreciated AKA and Cassper’s presence on stage and that there was no division, only unity. He found it weird that on social networks the rappers are at each other’s throats, but on stage they show each other love,” said a source.
Another source said: “What Juju did was good and we encourage him to talk to young people like those two. They should calm down and stop being childish.”
This week Cassper confirmed Juju’s intervention.
He said: “Juju is a remarkable guy. I’m done with beefing. He spoke to us about our careers and how our music makes people happy. I just want to focus on the Fill Up The Dome concert now.”
Cassper dismissed rumours that AKA would be the main surprise act at his Fill Up The Dome gig.
On Thursday Juju said: “AKA performed. Cassper gave a surprise performance. I went on stage and advised them that it’s part of the culture of rap music to diss each other.
“People shouldn’t take it personally. We need to dance to their music and they’re not the first ones to diss each other. Kwaito guys have done it in the past.
“We love them both and they entertain us. I’ll always encourage them to be successful in all they’re doing.”
AKA was not available for comment. Sunday Sun has learnt that the rapper is in New York.
