OUT of desperation Matshidiso Mokgwamme applied for jobs with a fake matric certificate – but he was caught out.
And now that he has really passed matric through hard work, his earlier mistake is haunting him!
The 34-year-old from Braamfischer in Soweto told Daily Sun he found it impossible to find a job after he wrote matric in 2000 and failed. When he told a friend about the problem, he organised a fake certificate with a few distinctions.
Matshidiso then used the certificate to look for work. He was called back for an interview and started, with hope for his future.
“I nailed it and was sure the job was mine but a few days later I got a call saying they had found that my certificate was fake. I decided to destroy the fake document after that,” said Matshidiso.
For years he struggled to find a job and in 2004 he decided to go back to school to get his matric. When he passed, he thought his problems had come to an end but his earlier mistake was still following him.
After he sent his CV to different companies and went to a number of interviews, they all called him back to say his matric was fake.
“I thought I had fixed this but it won’t get fixed. I need help. My fake certificate is still haunting me,” he said.
“At 34 I should own a house, have my own car and be married but I can’t do any of this because of the fake certificate.”
