The blind couple Mary and Lindani’s share joy


A FEW months ago, Daily Sun told the story of happy Mary Khoza (50) and her husband Lindani Ganyile (49).
Now SunPower has made them even happier!
The blind couple from Orange Farm extension 8 celebrated their 32nd wedding anniversary over the weekend.
Businessman Terry Mokoena said the blind couple’s story published in Daily Sun touched him.
Terry provided a horse and wagon for the couple which they rode around in while kasi people cheered.
“I had to help them make their celebration dreams come true,” he said.
“This is another way of thanking the family for their bond and to set an example to other couples in the world that love is blind!”
Terry, owner of social networking club Life@40 ’n Beyond said whether one has a disability or not, love should be unconditional.
Novula Kuvaliwe Reliable Events owner Themba Khumalo provided chairs, tables and a tent. “When I heard from Terry I was inspired and joined him to make the couple happy,” he said.
Orange Farm Pick n Pay sponsored the cake.
Mary said she was happy people had heard her plea to celebrate her special day with her husband.
“I’m happy and overwhelmed with the support I received from our friends and sponsors,” she said.
Mary’s friends came from as far away as Free State, Tshwane and Tembisa.
Many of their blind friends attended.
Lindani said he was surprised.
“We are so grateful to Daily Sun and the people who made this possible,” he said.
“The party is a celebration of our love.”
Mary met Lindani, who was born blind, at Joburg’s Park Station and they were married in 1983.
Mary lost her sight in 1996.
The couple were blessed with 11 children, five of whom are still alive.
