Ukhozi FM DJ and SABC1 caught driving at 161km an hour in a 120km zone

CONTROVERSIAL Ukhozi FM DJ and SABC1 Roots presenter Ngizwe Mchunu is in hot water for speeding.
Ngizwe was reportedly caught driving at 161km an hour in a 120km zone on the N3 in Grootvlei, Mpumalanga on Friday morning.
He was allegedly speeding in his white Volkswagen Amarok twin-cab on his way from Joburg to Durban.
He is currently out on R1 500 bail and will appear in the Balfour Magistrates Court on Thursday.
A source close to Ngizwe told Daily Sun he was rushing to get to his radio show.
“I think that was the main reason he was driving so fast. He was broadcasting The Touchdown with Tbo Touch on Metro FM on Thursday in Joburg,” he said.
When approached for comment by the SunTeam, Ngizwe said everyone sometimes drives over the speed limit but journalists only report it if the culprits are celebrities.
“I don’t know what we did wrong to you because all journalists want to write about are our mistakes.
“I agree I exceeded the speed limit. I was rushing,” he snapped.
“I apologise to all motorists using the roads and I also apologise to everyone who sees me as a role model. I will comply with court procedures to show it was a mistake and I apologise.”
He refused to say more about his arrest.
Grootvlei police spokesman Warrant Officer Vanger Lith confirmed that Ngizwe was driving at 161km in an 120km zone on the N3 high way near Villiers.
“He was arrested at 7.25am on Friday morning and faces a charge of speeding but he was released on R1 500 bail.
“He will appear in Balfour Magistrates Court in Mpumalanga on Thursday at 8.30am,” he said.
