A man and a woman were arrested in Cape Town early on Saturday for allegedly being in possession of drugs estimated to be worth almost R2-million, Western Cape police said.
Police followed up information at about 1.50am about a large amount of drugs in a vehicle in Gugulethu, Cape Town, Constable Noloyiso Rwexana said in a statement.
A Toyota Fortuner was found at an address in Gugulethu and a police sniffer dog found drugs underneath the back seat of the vehicle.
“Mandrax, cocaine, and rocks (crack) with (an) estimated street value of R1,9-million were confiscated,” Rwexana said.
Two suspects, a 50-year-old man and a 57-year-old woman, were arrested on possession of drugs charges.
Both suspects were expected to appear in the Athlone Magistrate’s Court once they had been charged, Rwexana said.
