HE DIED FOR HIS FRIEND!

MAZWENI Cele became worried when his friend told him he was bullied by another boy at his school.

The 21-year-old grade 11 pupil at Buhlebemfundo High School in KwaDabeka, west of Durban took it upon himself to ensure the safety of his friend.

Mazweni and other concerned friends would accompany the troubled friend to his school and wait for him again in the afternoon outside the gate.

On Thursday he was shot in the chest.

He was allegedly attacked by a group of unknown boys who are believed to be his friend’s rivals. Mazweni’s mourning father Sithembiso Cele (49) told Daily Sun that he was at work when he received a call informing him about the unfortunate incident.

He said it broke his heart that his son got into a fight that he should not have involved himself in.

Colonel Jay Naicker said KwaDabeka police are investigating a case of murder and no arrest has been made at this stage.

“A 21-year-old man was allegedly fatally shot at Khululeka Road, KwaDabeka. The motive of the incident is unknown at this stage,” he said.
