FOR many youngsters the forbidden fruit of sex is not something they let go by, with many losing their virginity while still teenagers.
But for 32-year-old Ntombiyenkosi Mtshali, remaining pure until the day she marries is not negotiable.
The pretty woman from Tembisa, Ekurhuleni said she made a personal choice at a tender age to honour God and her future husband by waiting until marriage to have sex for the first time.
She said she has managed to keep herself pure despite the challenges and criticism she faces almost every day.
“People don’t believe that I’m a virgin. But I don’t have to prove it to anyone except myself and God.”
Ntombiyenkosi is part of the virgin group Amatshitshi we Mpela, based in Rabie Ridge, near Tembisa.
Group co-ordinator Gladys Sangweni said Ntombiyenkosi and 62 other girls and young women are examined monthly to check if they’re still pure.
“If we find that someone has lost her virginity we tell her to leave the group because we only want to deal with virgins.”
Gladys said four girls were kicked out of the group recently for violating the rules.
“We encourage girls to stay pure and wait for marriage. I stayed pure until I got married so I encourage them to do the same.
“It is not easy but you tell yourself that you won’t allow peer pressure to drive you,” Gladys said.
“To encourage girls to stay virgins we give them certificates.
“At 16 we give them the mhlonyane certificate and at 21 they get the memulo certificate.”
Last month the group took part in the Umhlanga Reed Dance held at King Goodwill Zwelithini’s kraal in KZN.

settle down my sister 32 is too old, at wat age will you have your first child, will you be able to raise them, do you think the lucky man to marry you will also be a virgin or he will be tired of eating other cakes. just food for thought, 32 is too much think about it
