Zwelinzima Vavi was arrested for allegedly driving at 182km/h in an Audi Q7

FOMER Cosatu General Secretary Zwelinzima Vavi was arrested for allegedly speeding yesterday morning.
Metro cops allegedly caught him driving at 182km/h in an Audi Q7 on the 120km/h R24 freeway in Ekurhuleni.
Vavi was said to be rushing to OR Tambo Airport when he was stopped in the Ekurhuleni Metro cops’ Operation Velocity campaign against speeding.
Metro cop spokesman Kobedi Mokheseng said: “We have arrested seven suspects for speeding on the R24 freeway.”
He said the slowest speedster clocked 161km/h and the fastest was going at 182km/h.
Vavi is out on R1 000 bail and will appear today in the Edenvale Magistrates Court with six others.
The SunTeam tried to contact Vavi and his spokesman, but they weren’t available.
Their phones went straight to voicemail.
Cosatu expelled Vavi for allegedly “failing” to perform his duties as general secretary.
