DJ QNESS was arrested on Sunday.
This after he was allegedly found driving under the influence of alcohol.
The Universal Music DJ was charged with reckless driving on the Golden Highway, south of Joburg.
At the time of his arrest, DJ Qness was said to have been rushing off to his girlfriend who resides in Orange Farm, south of Jozi.
“DJ Qness”, real name Qhubani Ndlovu, known for his compilations, On Cue, had clocked 139km/h while driving his silky black BMW 330i in a 60km/h zone.
An officer, who didn’t want to be named, claimed: “The suspect was driving along the Golden Highway.
“The speed limit on that stretch of road is 60km/h, but since he was speeding and overtaking other cars in a reckless manner, we didn’t hesitate to stop him and lock him up immediately.
“When we stopped him he seemed confused and gave us a long story that he was rushing to his girlfriend who wasn’t feeling well and that she needed to get to hospital.”
Another officer said: “Celebrities always try to escape the long arm of the law.”
Sunday Sun has learnt that DJ Qness was released on a R1 000 bail. He appeared in the Lenasia Magistrate’s Court on Friday.
The SunTeam contacted the My World hitmaker, and he said: “I made a mistake like anyone else and paid my dues.”
His girlfriend, Nelisiwe Ngqingo, told Sunday Sun: “DJ Qness was rushing to me when he was caught speeding. I can confirm he got a R2 000 fine for speeding.”
