CONDOM TAXI RIDE! I want my passengers to have safe sex

THOLOKWAKHE Sithole wants his passengers to be safe in his taxi – and in bed!
So he gives them condoms and tells them to take care of themselves.
Tholokwakhe (27), of Soweto’s Dube Hostel, said many people find getting condoms at clinics embarrassing.
“So they risk their lives with unprotected sex.
“I’m doing this to save them,” he said.
The kind Phefeni Association taxi driver said he was sad that people were still dying of HIV/Aids while there are free condoms at clinics.
Every day after work he collects two boxes of condoms from a clinic in Dube to hand out.
“I don’t care what people say when they see my dashboard full of condoms,” he said.
“I know what my aim is.”
Passenger Sonny Deriche (25), who was given condoms yesterday morning, said: “When you go to the clinic everyone looks at you.
“You know what they think – that this guy is going to get some today! It kills your mood. It’s why we stay away from clinics,” he said.
Gauteng Health spokesman Steve Mabona praised Tholokwakhe. “We need people like him in our country,” he said.
“Maybe there might be something else he can do for us. We need to speak to him,” he said.
